Thomas A. Slack, DDS
Thomas Slack, DDS, was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan. He began his undergraduate studies at Lake Superior State University. He enjoyed his time at LSSU as well as exploring the area while in the Upper Peninsula; however, he sought the opportunities that a larger university could provide and transferred to the University of Michigan where he obtained his Bachelor of Science. Dr. Slack was driven to a career in health care and decided to pursue dentistry. He chose to attend the University of Detroit School of Dentistry where he obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, and he was drawn to oral surgery as a specialty during his time there. He completed a one-year general practice residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. During this year Dr. Slack performed rotations in anesthesia, general surgery, medicine, and pediatrics. He was exposed to hospital dentistry and worked with the attending oral surgeons as much as he was able. This experience solidified his passion for oral and maxillofacial surgery. He went on to complete his oral and maxillofacial surgery training at Sinai Hospital of Detroit. Dr. Slack joined Kalamazoo Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, P.C. in 1990.
Dr. Slack loves using his skills as a surgeon to help people. He enjoys creating an atmosphere where patients are comfortable and can relax as much as possible while undergoing their treatment.
Dr. Slack enjoys such hobbies as cooking, woodworking, snow skiing, wake surfing, and scuba diving with his wife and three boys. Many weekends are spent at their cottage in northern Michigan.
